Dr. Tracey Shafer

Danville Community School Corporation
Dr. Tracey Shafer has served as Superintendent for the Danville Community School Corporation since 2014 - his 19th as an Indiana public school superintendent and his 35th year in public education.
Dr. Shafer has vast experience in working with school boards of governance to focus on student achievement. His experiences have afforded him extensive knowledge of the corporation improvement process, contract negotiations, instructional planning, school board communications, corporation legal matters and community relations.
In his current capacity, Dr. Shafer leads the school corporation with an emphasis on instructional leadership and community relations. Dr. Shafer is privileged to serve as a board member on the Danville Chamber, Hendricks College Network (HCN), Hendricks’ County Economic Development Partnership and Danville Redevelopment Commission and is an active member of the Danville Rotary Club.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science from Huntington College in Huntington, Indiana, a Master of Science in Education, an Educational Specialist degree,and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, all from Purdue University in West Lafayette.
Dr. Shafer is married to wife Brenda, a classroom teacher in Indianapolis. Tracey and Brenda reside in Danville and have three adult children.
